25th July 2024 is the 12th day of SUNTROPiS with the agenda visiting the Faculty of Agriculture. On this day, the participants are invited to have agricultural experience such as planting, farming and food processing. The day started with the gathering of participants in the Faculty of Agriculture before they were moving on to BPPSDMP (Balai Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan SDM Pertanian) for site visit agenda.

Arriving at BPPSDMP, the participants were divided into 2 groups and guided to take a look at some variety of Melon whether the local or the import ones in the Greenhouse. They were also given information about how the Greenhouse works and its impact on the plants. At the end of this agenda, the participants had the opportunity to try the Melon from the Greenhouse.

After having some pieces of Melon, the Participants moved on to the next activity which was land cultivation and planting rice. In this agenda, they learned how to plant rice starting from plowing the fields using a tractor to planting rice manually. The activities in BPPSDMP were closed by ‘cleaning time’ and the final statement from some lecturer of the Faculty of Agriculture.

Right before lunch, it was time to go back to the campus for the demonstration and food processing agenda. Gathered at the lab, the Participants were taught to cook an exotic fruit which is Cempedak. They were making Sanggar Cempedak and also another local favorite known as Manday. All of the participants were so happy to get this experience.

Retrieved from the “cook party” it’s time for a discussion session. With the theme of “Agricultural Products & Farms in East Kalimantan” the participants are required to share their opinion regarding the topic and also the condition of the agricultural situation from their region/country. 

After having some discussions and documentations, it was time to go back to the dormitory as the agenda of the 12th day was over.
