10 Traditional Dances of Pampang Village Bring Culture to Life with International Students

Samarinda, August 3, 2025 – The vibrant atmosphere of the Lamin House in Pampang Cultural Village came alive once again this Sunday. The weekly cultural showcase organized by the Lamin Village management featured 10 traditional dances accompanied by authentic Dayak musical instruments and became a unique cultural introduction for international students participating in Suntropis 2025.

The event was attended by international students from Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Tanzania, Ghana, India, Guinea, and Yemen, along with local and foreign visitors.

The showcase presented 10 traditional dances of Pampang, including the Friendship Dance, Welcome Dance, Peace Dance, Unity Dance (Rope Weaving), Mask Dance, Stick Dance, Farewell Dance, and several other iconic performances by professional dancers from Lamin Pampang.

The event aimed to introduce the rich cultural heritage of the Dayak people to visitors while providing international students with a hands-on cultural experience.
How: Participants were not only spectators but were also invited to join in the Rope Weaving (Unity) Dance and the final closing dance. After the performances, guests had the opportunity to take photos with the dancers for IDR 25,000 per photo session, supporting the dancers and preserving the tradition.

The event successfully created a lively and interactive atmosphere, strengthening cross-cultural friendship while celebrating the beauty of Dayak traditions.
