The SUNTROPIS 2025 program organized an educational activity trip to Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) as part of its series of cultural and academic activities. The trip aimed to provide participants with firsthand exposure to the development of Indonesia’s future capital city, which is envisioned as a green, smart, and sustainable city. Throughout the visit, participants were introduced to various aspects of city planning and infrastructure development, with a particular emphasis on environmental sustainability, renewable energy, and community-based initiatives.
Upon arrival at the IKN site, the participants were warmly welcomed by the Deputy for Planning and Land Affairs (Kedeputian Bidang Perencanaan dan Pertanahan). During this reception, the delegation received an overview of IKN’s master plan, including its long-term vision, land management strategies, and the integration of ecological considerations into urban planning. This welcome session provided participants with valuable insights directly from the authority responsible for shaping the foundation of Indonesia’s new capital city.

During the activity, participants also engaged in a guided site visit to several development zones within IKN, where they learned about the city’s master plan and its commitment to integrating modern technology with ecological preservation. In addition to the tour, educational sessions and discussions were conducted to highlight the concepts of sustainable urban living, biodiversity conservation, and the role of IKN in shaping Indonesia’s future governance and development.
The trip further included community engagement activities, such as tree planting to support reforestation efforts and cultural exchanges with local residents, allowing participants to gain a deeper appreciation of local wisdom and its integration into the broader vision of IKN. These activities not only strengthened participants’ understanding of sustainable practices but also fostered teamwork, cross-cultural collaboration, and environmental awareness.
Overall, the SUNTROPIS activity trip to IKN provided meaningful insights into one of Indonesia’s most ambitious national projects. It served as an opportunity for participants to broaden their knowledge, experience sustainability in practice, and develop a stronger sense of responsibility towards supporting sustainable development. The trip was considered successful in achieving its objectives and contributed significantly to the educational and cultural values upheld by the SUNTROPIS 2025 program.
