The wonderful Universitas Mulawarman is an international-standard university that contributes to national development through education, research, and community service focused on natural resources, especially tropical rainforests and their environment. Unmul is home to 13 different faculties, with over 80 programs to explore. You’ll find undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational programs in a wide range of fascinating fields. Get to Know about SUNTROPiS SUNTROPiS is the name of this year’s annual Summer School Exchange held by Office of International Affairs Mulawarman University. SUNTROPiS is an abbreviation of Sunny Universality: Mulawarman University’s Tropical Studies Program in Summer, with the theme of Tropical Symphony: Understanding Borneo’s Unique Ecosystems and Cultures and Finding Its Sustainable Solutions. This International Summer School will be held on 2-9 August 2025 in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. Participating Countries From 2019 to 2024, our previous summer school welcomed participants from a diverse range of countries.

Check out our previous event! F.A.Q. Frequently Asked Questions Who can apply for SUNTROPiS? SUNTROPiS is opened for Bachelor/Master students under 30 years old. For universities based in Indonesia, international students will be prioritized. Non-students with a relevant background are welcomed. What are the benefits of joining SUNTROPiS? You will earn a certificate of participation equivalent to 3 credits, gain a network of students from across participating countries, enjoy meals and accommodation during the program, and have local transport covered—all while experiencing the richness of Borneo’s nature and culture! Is there any program fees? SUNTROPiS covers accomodation, three meals a day, local transportations and entrance tickets to sites during program.
